BF Oils Signs UK’s Largest Biofuels Two-Way Supply Contract

April 9th, 2008 by Julie

Leading global biofuels supply chain company BF Oils, based in Stokesley, has been awarded a 12–month contract to supply waste vegetable oil feedstock to Northumberland-based V Fuels Biodiesel. Simultaneously, BF Oils has contracted to supply an equivalent volume of bio diesel to the European producer of the waste. It is understood to be the largest contract of its kind to be awarded to date and is designed to maximise the profit potential for both companies. “We are delighted to have secured this prestigious contract which we anticipate will be the first of many of its kind,” said Robert Starling, CEO of BF Oils.  “We will be managing the entire lifecycle of the goods in transit, as well as providing full traceability through a Managed Service Agreement with both parties.” The use of used cooking oils (UCO) in bio diesel production has risen since October 2004 when it was banned, along with vegetable fats, from being used in the manufacture of animal feedstuffs, but many bio diesel plants are currently limited in the volume of UCOs that they can process. This is because most existing plants are unable to process UCOs with a fatty acid content higher than 5%.  “In addition to being able to source and supply UCO, BF Oils’ process technologists have developed a means of enabling bio diesel producers to process UCOs with a fatty acid content of up to 15%,” added Robert. “This means that bio diesel producers can now reduce their consumption of expensive feed stocks by replacing them with low grade, and significantly cheaper, UCO.” BF Oils is part of the OSL Group which offers a range of business services and solutions to both Public and Private sector organisations. For further information contact Robert Starling on 01642 310129.
