Double celebration for young solicitor
September 10th, 2008 by Julie
COMMERCIAL lawyer Carol Forbes has a double case for celebration.
Carol, 24, will become a fully qualified solicitor on September 15 after successfully completing two years of training with Tees Valley-based Punch Robson Solicitors.
And she has been awarded the R T Richardson Prize by the Tees Valley Law Society as a result of outstanding examination results that earned her a training contract with the Middlesbrough-based firm.
Carol, originally from Darlington and now living in Hartlepool, joined Punch Robson in September 2006 after a four-year LLB Exempting Degree at Northumbria University School of Law, where she gained a 2:1 that was a borderline first.
The R T Richardson Prize is awarded by the Tees Valley Law Society and recognises Carol’s excellent grades during her law degree and legal practice course.
She is one of 20 solicitors at Punch Robson, one of the region’s longest-established legal practices and which also has offices at Coulby Newham and Ingleby Barwick.
She said: “It is very nice to be recognised by my peers. I was delighted to leave Northumbria University with a good degree, which gave me the opportunity to work at Punch Robson, which I really enjoy. To now receive a prize for my exam grades is the icing on the cake.”
During her two-year training period with the legal firm she experienced different areas of the law, including litigation, wills and probate and residential conveyancing, but chose to concentrate on commercial work.
As part of a six-strong commercial team at Punch Robson, Carol will specialise in company work, including sales and acquisitions, but also has experience in Commercial Property transactions, both freehold and leasehold.
Managing Partner Alan Mottram said: “Everyone at Punch Robson is delighted for Carol and very proud of her achievement. It is yet further evidence that alongside the experience of the firm’s partners, we are blessed with a very high-calibre crop of young solicitors.”
