A FINANCIAL advice company has signalled the next stage of its expansion with the appointment of an operations manager.

Lindsey Guest, 33, will take charge of all administration and support services for independent financial advisors operating under the banner of Active Financial Services.

She joins Active after five years with energy provider npower, where she worked in customer service and training, and eight years with leading high street bank Barclays, where she specialised in change management.

Active - one of the North of England’s last remaining fully independent financial advice companies - now employs 12 people at Westgate, Guisborough, east Cleveland.

In January, it increased its team of IFAs to seven with the appointment of Alison Auld, and hopes to announce further appointments in 2008 as it seeks to build on its high street tradition and reach new markets.

Director Karl Pemberton says: “We are looking for more IFAs to join Active, most likely bringing their own client bank with them, so we need to ensure that they arrive to find highly accomplished, effective and reliable support services. We believe Lindsey’s management expertise, gained with much bigger companies than ours, and her energy and desire to succeed, will see her excel in a lynchpin role, working closely with the directors.”

Lindsey, who is married with a two-year-old daughter, says she jumped at the chance of joining a small, but highly ambitious company such as Active.

She says: “It was very easy to embrace what Active’s directors are trying to do with the company. What is exciting is that I’m not stepping into anyone’s shoes - it’s a completely new role, in which I will act as a link between the sales and administration aspects of the business, hopefully passing on my knowledge and experience to junior staff along the way.”
