STOKESLEY - based marketing communications and PR consultancy Mills Advertising and Publicity (MAP) has been appointed to provide regional PR support to the Eston Grange power project, the proposal to develop a revolutionary clean coal and carbon capture power generation plant planned for Teesside.

Eston Grange is a joint venture between Centrica plc, parent company of British Gas, and Progressive Energy Ltd., the clean energy project development company based in Stonesfield, Gloucestershire. If fully developed, the power station would be built and operated by Centrica, and would be the cleanest fossil fuelled plant in the UK, capturing over 85% of its CO2 emissions. It is expected to cost over £1 billion.

“MAP, with its extensive local knowledge and connections, will be providing advice and practical support to ensure that we communicate effectively with all those across the Tees Valley who will have an interest in our plans,” said Trevor Croft, Project Director for Eston Grange.

“We are absolutely delighted to win this extremely prestigious contract,” said MAP’s Managing Director, Eric Mills. “As well as handling all regional media relations activities on behalf of Eston Grange, we have been briefed to produce a range of communications materials, including a DVD, website and various information leaflets.

“We will also be organising a number of Stakeholder Briefing Events as the project progresses towards a full planning submission which is scheduled for early 2008.”
