ONYX GROUP GETS A GREEN POWER BOOST

The Onyx Group’s dedicated secure data hosting centre located in Newcastle is now able to offer its customers even greater capacity and resilience while significantly reducing energy consumption following a major investment to upgrade its power capacity.  ”We have doubled our power distribution capacity by replacing our uninterrupted power supply (UPS) units and adding two new power distribution units (PDUs) into our facility in Newcastle,” said Onyx Group CEO Neil Stephenson

“Whilst maintaining resilience, these enhancements not only enable us to increase the level of both the power density and data storage capacity that we can offer to our customers, the new UPS units are extremely efficient in reducing our overall power consumption.

“Efficiency and green power are very relevant issues in today’s environment and the integration of high power usage facilities at our data centre is a further demonstration of the Onyx Group’s commitment to reducing the impact that its operations have on the environment.”

Onyx Group’s Newcastle hosting facility was among the first organisation of its type in the world to gain ISO/IEC 27001 accreditation and is still one of only a few UK organisations to have achieved this level of recognition for its commitment to information security.

ISO/IEC 27001 is the only auditable international standard which defines the requirements for an Information Security Management System (ISMS). The standard is designed to ensure the selection of adequate and proportionate security controls.

“As an organisation that is entrusted with the storage and processing of mission critical data by an ever-increasing number of the region’s leading organisations, it is vital that Onyx maintains its position at the cutting edge of this technology,” added Neil.
